VPN Error

I am connecting to a Contivity switch from an extranet client...and I get the following error:

Bannersock: The attempt to connect timed out without establishing a connection.

I say OK to this and I get connected...BUT can onlt TRANSMIT packets...CAN"t recieve packets....

Any idea what this error means...
