Here is what I have:
@Home Cable Service
2 Computers
BEFSR41 Linksys Router

When I set it up, shouldn't the router have my original ip @home gave me, or do one of the computers have that? If anyone would be kind enough to show me where to go, or make directions on how to set up my lan so I can still use things like an FTP server and Napster, it would be VERY greatly appreciated. Rewards might be given.

1. The router gets all of your @home settings. Then the router gives it's own IPs to your other computers. So set up your computers to get IPs automaticaly.

2. To serve an FTP you need to use the DMZ option.

I cant tell you much on how to do these things on the Linsys as I have Netgear. The instructions should tell you this that came with the router. Some routers put the manuals in a PDF file on a cd that comes with it. Also if you would do a search here in the forums you will find answers to questions like this. But first do yourself a favor and read the instructions.

Set your computer to recieve IP address, reboot, open browser, type in 192.168.1.1 press enter. When login box comes up put in the password (default is ADMIN). This will take you to the setup screen for the router. There is a help file there. Put in all the info from your server provider. Change password. Surf the web.
