Well, why do you need wireless? Laptop? Personally speaking most wireless solutions suck. They have a slow transfer rate usually connecting at only 1.5 megabits. For real networking speed wireless is to expensive. Way to expensive. My thoughts on it are simply run a cable, just reme, ber not to trip over it and take some time running the cable in the walls. Just my 2 cents.

I've got a WebGeag Aviator 2.4 setup that I bought openbox at a local computer store for $80. I have my laptop peered to a desktop, which is connected to my LAN. Though I only access Inet through it, I've been very happy so far. The nice thing about this one is that it follows the 802.11 standard, so it will work with a standard access point when I get one.

The only thing that sucks is that it isn't DHCP client compatible - you have to specify the address/net settings.

Does it have to be wireless?? I mean the speeds on those things just suck...around 1.5mbs...that is pretty lame. Here are some other altenatives...

There a ton of "network in a box" solutions. Good ol' ethernet and a hub solution works well, but you will routing wires forever. Another viable but not as fast option would be a phoneline network, it can get up to 10mbs!! It is good enough for most things...I am running one of those in my house connecting 6 PCs, no problems so far, and it was simple as hell to set up. It uses only phone wires, and you can "daisy chain" them if you need to also...

I hope this helps...I would definitely stay away from the "wireless" solutions, though...the are too pricey, and give VERY crappy transfer speeds...
