I would like help as to how i would share a 701k down dsl line with my 3 computers. I can buy multiple ip's but i dont know where to go from there. do i have to have a router or can i use my 5 port hub? also, do they run a phone line to a room after they split the signal?, because i do not have a phone line going into my room, so i am concerned with my speed going down because of signal loss over the lines. Any help would be great.

First things first. In order for you to share DSL connection among 3PCs w/ one IP address, you will need the following.

You don't need a router, just use the 5 port hub. You need a NAT/Proxy installed to the PC that's going to be doing the sharing. Extra NIC for the sharing PCs. Basically that's it. There's a complete guide somewhere here in how you can actually configure connection sharing. Perhaps some of the guys here can point you in the right direction.

Far as I know, you don't even have to use the phone line part of it. I have Dsl at work. One line to the modem, and the next to our shop phone. Only because we needed it though.
I have never shared over Dsl though. Does it use Winpoet? You should be able to do it right over your hub, with some software installed. Cable was easy to share. I actually got 8 connections to my provider, without a proxy. No extra charge. Which leads me to a question. I have a Com21 modem. ON its specs, it says it can handle up to 8 connecions. Is that the reason why my Isp says I can have 8 connections without a proxy? I mean it seems logical. Is there something in the modem that lets this happen?
