Changing dial up settings?

I heard that if you set up your dial up modem for optimal performance it will have an adverse effect on a cable modem.So if you set your dial up modem settings for worst performance would it help a cable modem at all?

It depends on what setting you are talking about. From my experience, the MTU for dial up works better small, for cable seems it could be either, usually large however. Again, this is my experience, hope that helps.
