Alright, I want to set up so I can print from my win2k machien to the printer on the win98 machine. Heres my setup:
3com nic on win2k machine, into port 2 on HUB.
linksys nic on win98 machine, into port 1 on HUB.
cablemodem plugged into HUB uplink, hub set to UPLINK.
2 ips, one with subnet 255.255.255.192 and .0

How do I do this?

Assumptions:

1. Your windows98 machine must be able to (and can do) IP forwarding (IP routing).

You need to give windows98 an IP address on the win2k subnet for it to route to.

You need to add a static route on win2k of something like:

route add 192.168.1.0 mask 255.255.255.0 192.168.0.1

That assumes the win98 subnet is 192.168.1.0 and the win2k subnet is 192.168.0.0/26

HalfLifer, you may want to try installing NETBEUI and use that for file sharing. Just be sure to set the workgroup on both of the computers to be the same. Now I know for the DHCP lease for @Home it depends on those settings but the TCPIP stack itself can be hard coded for that and that would allow for you to be able to assign different hostnames for your computers with NETBEUI. I'll tell you more when you are on ICQ...
