View Full Version : Need help with Linksys befsr41 & cable connection
Hi, newbie here. I am trying to network two computers (win98 and win2k) with the Linksys befsr41 router. I have the router connected to the cable modem (RCA DCM215 on loan from AT&T) via the WAN port, and then a cable from port 1 of the router to my ethernet card (DLink DFE-530 TX) which is in the computer with Windows 98. I know the hardware is communicating because I am getting a green light for the PC link between the modem and computer, and I can access the Linksys web-browser utility. I set everything up like how the book says, but I am not able to get connected to the internet. Any help is appreciated!!
You may want to post your settings. There are enough people here that someone will be able to help you.
Just leave the IP address your ISP gave you as 200.200.200.xxx. Using for the last octet.

Did you clone the MAC number of the NIC to the Router.
Most Cable ISP use the MAC of the original NIC for authentication.

When you set up your router, did you enter the host name(usually the computer name given to you by your ISP) and the domain?
hey bobby...i had the same prop with my linksys befsr41 using win2k as host and win98 client. when i entered (cloned) my mac address of the adaptor, it connected immediately. hope this works. rookie
