Looking for info will the following work
cable internet->Win NT Server (DHCP installed)->hub->Win 2000 Pro.
Will this work, or do i still need to install software for the Win 2000 Pro to connect to the net

It will not work configured as you describe. You have two basic options:
1. The W2KServer is your poxy to the web for the client

2. You purchase a NAT router to share the connection.

Option 1 requires an additional NIC in the server (one NIC is for the LAN/client, one is for the Internet). The server must be on to connect to the net. Everything you need as far as software is on the W2KS CD. Your hub will then then become your most expensive paper weight.

Option 2 allows both to access the net independently, but will cost extra money for the router. $99-150 range depending on what you get. Maybe a one port router that your hub can uplink into, vs a 4 port switch could keep you at the lower end of that range. This solution also offers some protection vs direct attacks from the web, a pleasant side effect of NAT.

Cheers

Thanks. but there is 2 diffrent o/s
Win NT 4.0 Server wich will have the 2 nic cards and then a win2000proo PC, i'm using the hub so i can add other PC's in the next few days. Doesn't Win NT 4.0 Server have services or settings i can use instead of buying the software.

No NT 4.0 does not have built in Internet Connection sharing like Win2K. There are free proxy server software packages out there. ie. analogx has one and there are others. Unfortunately you do need proxy software or a router.
