View Full Version : FTP Server w/Cable Modem
I have a home coputer with Windows ME connected to the the Internet via Cable Modem from AT&T@Home.
I'm trying to run a G6 FTP server off this computer but it times out when users try to access.
I've tried it using port 21 and others.
Can someone please tell me if there is a way to make this work?
Thanks...

im having the same problem!!
First of all Why the hell are you using WinME it sucks!!! either use Linux or Win2K server to run an FTP site they are faster and more relable.
Second if you connect from another inet connection (not an @home connection) you will notice that it works. @home has it set up so that their clients on the same node cannot connect to eachother becaus of some security problems when it was first introduced in 98. I am still trying to figure out how to get around this feature!!
email me nurotoxin@techie.com
see if you can connect to my ftp server and let me know if you can connect? :)
