I tried TweakUI Version 1.33 from the Microsoft Downloads to do my auto logon. It would not log me on though and just sat there until I typed in my password. Clear last user wasn't checked and I had the correct User name, Password and Log on at Startup checked. Is there any other program that anyone can recommend to use to log my PC's onto to Client For Microsoft Networks on Start-Up? I am using Windows 98SE. Thanks for any help.

I have been experiencing the same problem. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Must be a bug. It does that on 3 different machines I have all running win98-A and SE.

Try loging out, then logging back in. Run TweakUI again and deselect the autologin. Click Apply and then exit. Then go back into tweakui and re-apply the settings. It may work... for a while.

There must be a registry entry that is not correct from TWEAKUI when it is installed. It is very frustrating.

I had this proublem before to. I tried reinstalling it plus rebuilding the whole network. I keep my date files for my virus scan updated. So i got to wandering if maybe a had I trojan. I ran a scan nothing came up .So I install the cleaner3.2 Sure enough I did. I had a pass word stealing trojan. Which pass threw zonealarm and I even had it set on high.so I ended up cleaning the trojan out of the machine and switching to sysgate firewall. Which I was going to have to do anyway, Because it would not let my Dhcp server renew my Lease for My Ip. I run win98se now and do not have a problem. You might want to check into this. It may be your problem. Hope not though! GoodLuck! ;)
By the way it was the New Backdoor Trojan from aol and I don't even use AOL. Makes you wander. :)

I know it isn't a trojan causeing the problem. I run McAfee, InnoculateIt, and The Cleaner. I also use a Linksys 4 port router with NAT, ZoneAlarm (Set to Medium), and BlackIce(Set to Nervous).

I changed both PC's to Microsoft Family Logon and now it doesn't prompt me for a password. Thanks for the replies.

Her's a little known registry entry for win98 autologon.

The following entry appears in the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Network\Real Mode Net

AutoLogon=xx

NOTE: The AutoLogon value must be a BINARY value and must be set to 00 for automatic logon to work.
