I have a 2 computer network that share a cable internet connection using a Linksys 4 port router. Everything was set up and running fine until I put a new motherboard in my second computer. I installed the new mb, and reformatted and reinstalled Windows 98 SE. Whenever I try to download a file, and sometimes only when web pages are loading, the computer completely freezes up and I have to reboot. I also tried to transfer a file between the two computers over the network, and the same thing happened. Any ideas as to where to start? My nic card is a Linksys Network Everywhere Fast Ethernet Adapter. Thanks in advance.

I had the same problem with a customers computer. Did you install the motherboard driver that came with it. If it is a VIA chipset try to DL the new 4.25a 4 in one drivers, i had to install the new drivers also for the freezing up to quit.

Try the NIC in a different PCI slot.

The motherboard has an Intel 440bx chipset, I will try moving the nic to another slot tomorrow, thanks for the help.
