View Full Version : Problem accessing mail & news servers when 2 NICs are installed
I'm trying to set up multiple Internet access using @Home cable service. I can use Winproxy to provide access to the Web without problems but I can't access email or newsgroups. The gateway PC/server cannot access the mail and news servers when there are two NICs in it. I get access after I remove one of the cards. I've done this a year ago with no problems at all. Is there something that @Home has changed to their mail and news servers?
Under TCP/IP, enter in your @Home domain. For example, mine was smateo1.sfba.home.com. Then you can use 'www', 'news', and 'mail'.

So then I also have to enter the primary and secondary DNS? What causes this mail/news server problem with two NICs in one PC? It wasn't an issue before.
No, you don't need to enter the DNS servers--just the domain.
You can't use 'mail', 'news', etc. w/o the domain name b/c you are not directly connected to the modem.
I know it works. Doing this allowed me to use 'mail' as the incoming/outgoing servers when I was using AT&T@Home behind a router.
