What software are you using to share the connection?
i am using the home click software. pc # 1 has 2 card and pc #2 has 1 lan card. all of these are 3 com cards.
let me be more specific. pc #1 has 3 com 3c920 fast ethernet contoller and a 3 com home connect 10 mbps pci card. computer #2 also has the 3 com pci card. we are trying to run it thrugh the phone line using the 3 com home network 10 mbps phoneline usb adapter 3c420
3com homeconnect..usb adapter...10mbps..ugh
you don't need another IP, though the cable company would like for you to think you did I am sure. You can share the connection w/ software...
i would suggest NAT..sysgate or winproxy or whatever. You could also try setting up ICS...If you're not familiar with ICS, goto add/remove and internet options. this is available for win98 se and 2k. i would recommend ICS because it's simplicity.
if you've tried these already, i can't be much help without some more information. ;/
