Is there any way to get IE5.5 to cache it's own DNS addresses?

I've noticed that when I am surfing I have to wait for the DNS server to resolve the DNS address, then I have to wait for the page to load. I always thought the bulk of the wait was for the page to load via the web page server and not DNS lookup.

A few days ago I was watching the lights on my DSL modem and router, I noticed that each time I hit the back button the web page didn't load from a page cached on my hard drive but instead reloaded the page from the web sight server. I also noticed I could "Surf" backward about 5 times faster than I could surf forward. Either way whether I was going forward or backward the page was being downloaded off of the web page server. I figured the difference was the DNS lookup.

Is there any way to get IE5.5 to cache it's own DNS information? It seems silly to waste time and go out to the DNS server every time you want to visit a web page which you have visited recently.

Anyone with any knowledge please help.
