well i'm sitting in class and my instructor got me all confused about when to use crossover & straight through cables. I know to use a crossover cable to connect similar devices...I do know that:

1.PC to PC -crossover
2.PC to HUB/ROUTER/(switch?)-straight through

But what about connections between....
1.Hub(uplink/cascade) to Hub(any port)
2.Hub(any port) to Hub(any port)
3.router to router
4.switch to switch
5.and any other connections worth knowing

woohoo! my first post on this board. :D

Regardless of the connectivity device:
regular port to uplink > patch
regular port to regular port > crossover
uplink to uplink > crossover
