I'm looking to connect two 2500 series routers for the purpose of running Cisco labs. One will be at my house (Chicago) and the other at my brothers house 50 miles away. I have DSL and a fixed IP but unfortunately DSL isn't available at my brother's place. Initially I thought we could both get ISDN lines which isn't too expensive, given the distance though the usage would be costly.
Keep in mind throughput is not an issue. I only need to ping and telnet ect. Would it be possible to run TCP/IP over a POTS/modem combination?

Make it easy on yourself :) Go to www.r1r2.com (http://www.r1r2.com) for free router time.

I'm guessing you want the 2 routers to communicate with each other when you dial thru your ISP? I haven't set it up this way before so I couldn't really offer any advice of how to accomplish this :(

No, I'm not looking to go through my ISP. I plan on using a workstation with a modem to dial directly over to my brothers modem. He in turn will have a workstation with a modem which will answer. As follows:

E0 on 2500>NIC/PC>modem (dials directly to brothers modem)>modem>PC/NIC>E0 on other 2500.
