Missing vserver.vxd driver for LAN setup

When setting up the network on my win95 machine, I got an error saying "missing vserver.vxd" virtual device driver. I checked the Win95 system disk and it's not there. Since I'm partially thru the setup, my win95 PC is acting unstable, so I backed out of the setup. Anyone know how I can get it back or can be located?? Don't know what happened to it, but it apparently got walked on.

Is this driver the same on WinME as it is on Win95? If so, I can get it off my new machine. What do you think??

Everyone must have watching the XFL babes on TV. Couldn't find any help anywhere.

I was able to get to the driver from my win95 system disk and reload it to windows/system. It was not on the system anywhere, so after many deadends I was able to reload it. Don't know where it went...a mystery.

The curious part is I followed PracticallyNetworked's setup guide to the letter...very slow and methodical. Things were fine on the new system; on the old I had problems. On the old, after I went thru the setup and got to the end the first time, I noticed there weren't any file sharing affiliations(at all), so I thought I had screwed up, went back and clicked on File Sharing tab on the config screen, and rebooted. That's when the trouble started. The guide doesn't say anything about clicking the "file sharing" button on the config screen, so I don't know if it was suppose to do affiliate the file sharing automatically or not, and if so, why the file sharing button. My guess is the missing driver disrupted the process from the beginning, but who knows.

At work now, but I'll try it agains this evening.

My Dad had the same problem a few days ago in 98SE. His solution was to reload 98SE and viola! No more missing drivers!

I was lucky. All I has to do was extract it from my system disk and reapply it to the proper directory...and viola!

You might even try just running a setup threw windows . with your win95 disk and let it set windows up again. You will not loose any thing this way. Plus it will probaly put the drivers back in for you. Then resetup your Network. Hope this helps!
