NIC Settings

I have a 3com 3c905-C TX M and my college lan has seemed to slow down. When I select the computer in the local network, it takes forever to display the shares. Once these shares are displayed, browsing is fast. Are there any features with this card that make the entire network or my system slower, such as management utilities. Also, there are a bunch of settings like flow control, tx offload, and other features in the properties of my network card. Is there a way to improve performace by changing these settings

Maybe its cuz more andmore students have joined the network or some slick rick is running some sort of server. If you haven't been messin with your settings and the LAN seems slow, that could be the problem. Inform the admin of the slowdown and hopefully he'll be able to fill you in.

I have installed many 3C905C-TX-M's an have never had this kind of problem. You shouldn't have to tweak anything for that card to operate at full speed. I agree with the last suggestion... check with the network administrator.
