This is driving me crazy. I've setup (literally) one million dollar IBM RS/6000 servers in multi-domain environments, and my friend and I can't figure out what's wrong with his LAN. He has (2) PCs, both running 2000 Professional. Each have Client for Microsoft Networks, TCP/IP bound to NIC, File & Print Sharing installed. One PC has one NIC. It has been assigned a non-routable IP address, subnet mask has been entered as well. The other PC has 2 NICs, 1 IP supplied by @Home, the other non-routable. Both are connected via a Linksys switch. A cable modem is used for access as well. The two PCs will ping each other just fine, however they cannot see each other on the workgroup model. What am I missing here? There is no firewall hardware/software installed. Both have shared drivers, but cannot see each other except for pings.
