Can someone tell me why my client is so slow?

This is my setup, W98SE(host) it has two nic cards one connected to the modem the other one ran to a NetGear hub, from the hub another cat5 cable is ran to my W98(client).
I am using analogx to share Internet.

ok this is what i would do, i would take the cat5 cable plug it into the cable modem, then into the uplink slot in the hub, then plug all your clients into the hub, i used to get just a little under a megabit with that setup, then i got smart and decided to use win2k as a router.
