I just got a linky cable/dsl router (BEFSR41 V.2) and set it up on my network. My download speeds have increased by about an extra 50k/sec http://www.speedguide.net/ubb/smile.gif But I have two questions, can anyone help?
1. does anyone know how good the built-in firewall is? I have BlackIce Defender installed, and it picked up a TCP ACK ping from the outside when my PC was connected to the router . . .
2. does anyone's linky make a noise when it's on? Mine makes a buzzing noise and I was wondering if this is normal.

I would say no, you have something wrong with your linky. I got one last week and it doesn't make any noise. I would say you either have a bad component or bad solder joint.

No noise at all. Return yours. THe firewal is a good one. Its usually ports people open and sticking your computers IP in the DMZ sections that lets things come in. Also enable block WAN requests or you won't be stealth.

Ok, I'm going back to the store tomorrow and exchanging it for a new one.
About the firewall thing . . . no ports are open and block WAN request is enabled . . . I'm still trying to figure out how BlackIce picked up the TCP ACK ping.
