greetings...
i am a network newbie and I recently had my 2 computers "lanned" with a crossover cable and no hub. I got the thing working the first time out, file/printer sharing, Internet connection sharing, IPX, etc... but ever since I replaced com2 with my laptop, file/printer sharing got screwed. File transfer from com1 to either com2 or laptop is so slow... 128k for 20 seconds!!! I've tried reformatting, still no go. ICS, IPX gaming aer all ok except for the F/P sharing prob. Anyone got a solution??? thanks...

This is a long shot. I see you are using IPX. I would drop that and use NetBeui.

Hope this helps.

I agree on tossing IPX. It is an old-school proprietary type protocol. Seems to work well on some HP printers.

Now let us see, you still have only two computers connected via crossover cable.

I would recheck the basics (IP address etc)

It is harder to do TCP/IP file sharing for some reason on some systems, NetBeui seems to do that function much better.

The only time I see IPX working well is with Lotus Notes and Novell. If at all possible I would use another protocol.
