Okay, first the stats...computer A, two nics, configured for ICS (although not working right now), Win2K Pro, internet access works just fine (@home on Toshiba PCX 1100). Can ping computer B. Computer B, Win2K Pro, one nic, can't access net nor ping computer A.

First problem. While trying to figure out why my ICS won't work, I found that I cannot ping the server from the client, but can ping the client from the server. Any ideas? I uninstalled and reinstalled TCP/IP, no luck.

Next problem, which I figured was related. I can't access the Net from the client. I followed all of the configuration steps, but one thing isn't happening. From what I've read, on the client machine, under connections for Internet Explorer, there should be a button for Sharing. On my client, this button is not there. I went to MS Knowledge base and read that if a particular file was not a specific version or higher then this problem exsits. I checked and my version is higher. Still no button for sharing. Now, I don't know where this button comes from, but what I gather is that IF my TCP/IP was working right, which I doubt, then the sharing button would be there after the client queries the server.

Something strange though, my client obtains IP's from the server, 192.168.0.x, yet I can't ping nor access the net.

If anyone has any advice, I would greatly appreciate it!! I've read about 100 web pages today about this topic and I just can't figure it out!!

Well, I figured it out!!! It was a simple solution that I over looked many, many times!!

It has to do with a firewall. It wasn't ZA Pro, but Norton Personal Firewall!!! This is why. I thought I had turned the security feature off and was only using it for privacy, Java, and Active X, but when I was trying things this morning I noticed that the security setting was at medium. I disabled it and BINGO!!! Problem solved. I can ping and access the internet from the client.

It took a couple of days, but I finally figured it out!!! That's what makes all of this so much fun, you get learn as you go!!!

Thanks for the help everyone!!
