View Full Version : Share xDSL with 2 Seperate Networks

I am trying to come up with the least expensive way to share a DSL connection to the internet with 2 totaly seperate network IDs without allowing the 2 Networks to see each other for security reasons. Packets should no be routed between these to networks but both should be able to use the same DSL connection. If anyone has a suggestion it would be appreciated.

The senerio is as follows:

2 Networks using peer to peer services in the Windows95 & 98 OS

Each network is using a cheap little ethernet hub and are not physically connected in anyway to each other

Network 1 uses the Network ID of 192.168.15.x
Network 2 uses the Network ID of 192.168.20.x

I was going to use a simple system loaded with windows with multiple network cards to share the DSL but I presume as soon as the routing table in windows95/98 is updated it will allow packet routing between the networks.

Any Ideas ...................keep in mind expense

Thanks

Real simple:

Server (with three nic's)
nic 1 - DSL
nic 2 - 192.168.15.1 (plugs into switch/hub)
nic 3 - 192.168.20.1 (plugs into switch/hub)

Use an operating system that can do NAT(routing ie Linux, FreeBSD etc..), and thats it. No one will be able to see each other. I use it all the time here at work to migrate offices to the internet, works like a charm.

Even simpler:

Get two LinkSys DSL 4 port switch/routers. Configure the DSL line with at least two availble IP addresses. Set up the DSL routers to use NAT to the seperate IP addresses.

I'm thinking that should keep things pretty divided. Not sure.
