I have the exact same problem. I have voodoo3 3000 pci and also get the delays. Very frustrating but sometimes I freeze altogether cant move cant escape to main menu yet the game carries on around me.
Have 2 restart whole system.

I have the same problem that you. My system:
- P2 350@433
- Atrend mobo, AGP x2, BX chipset
- 128 SDRAM
- HDD 8Gb
- 3D Prophet 2 MX

With my all BANSHHE -Glide http://www.speedguide.net/ubb/smile.gif)- everything was right. When I first installed my new MX, everything incredible, but after upgrading my MX with Guillemot's 3.11.00.08.00 BIOS I had the same problem. I made every tweak possible, but the problem continues. I think my problem is with the new BIOS, but i'm not sure al all.

For now, check for the DirectX 8 control panel applet and disable the Sound Debugging slicer (you can find it at www.the-ctrl-alt-del.com) (http://www.the-ctrl-alt-del.com)) and try changing your monitor refresh rate.

get this, you wont believe this....i found the problem, MY Mouse! yep, thats right. here lately my mouse has been acting up, so i decided to take a look at the cord. the cord was almost cut completely. when i would use it, it would rub on the back of my desk, which has a sharp wooden edge. everything is fine now.
later
