Just got @home cable, Toshiba PCX1100 docsis modem and DLink DFE-530TX+ ethernet card. I cannot connect to ANY game servers(EQ or IEN), had no problems with my 56k dialup. No response whatsoever. Network that IEN is connected to completely drops packets at 1st hop coming in, traceroute will not complete nor will it ping. This is always the case and not intermittent, again 56k dialup no probs. Not sure about EQ servers, dont know what ip to trace or ping. I have called @home,lol, and contacted the network owners IEN runs through, no help. I have removed all 56k modem stuff for kicks thinking that might be it. All I have in network settings is Client for MS, Ethernet adapter, MS VPN, Ndiswan VPN, TCP/IP for Ethernet. Maybe there are settings for my ethernet card(bound to TCP/IP)or TCP/IP for etherenet(bound Client for MS,Disable DNS,no gateway, disable WINS,obtain Ip auto)that I must have enabled? Or maybe just a ethernet card/cable modem won't do for online gaming? Do I need different hardware? At a complete loss please send info. Thanks
