I just wanted to post this message to others who are trying to setup a Quake3 server from behind a Hardware NAT. It cannot be done. Oh sure the server will run and be seen by clients on the LAN but nothing else. I have tried DMZ, Port Forwarding, Setting Net_port , Enabling / Disabling DHCP, Switching NICS to 10BaseT and Back. Nothing. No one outside the LAN can see the server on Gamespy or the Quake3 console. So in conclusion. Don't yank your hair out fretting about it. There is nothing you can do but wait and see if a software solution comes out or possibly a Bios Upgrade from your NAT router.
Sincerely , Your Great Society Friend and Ally. AC+
