I have a PIII 700 192 mb sdram viper 770 ultra system. I have @home cable with d/l speeds between 100 and 300 k/sec. My line speed is usually around 1500-2000 and my ping on the zone so I am told is in the 40's. So why the hell cant I host. If I am hosting a game and more than 2 or 3 guys join they start dropping like flies. Everyone keeps disconnecting off my connection. They say the lag is ok but no one can stay connected to me.
I have played in other games with @home cable hosts in which they can hold 10-12 players with no lag and no disconnections. No one at the @home organization has been any help to me at all. You just get transfered from one lame brain to the next till they get tired of you and leave you on hold.
I have tried with the tweaks and without the tweaks. I have reinstalled win 98 and Rogue Spear several times. How can I have such a fast connection but cant host any games?
Someone pls give me some help. Thx in advance.

Hosting Rogue Spear is all about Upload speed, and since you have @Home Cable I am willing to bet your capped @ 128kbs. I have the same problem(It really F|U|C|King sucks). Ask your cable provider what your upload speed is capped at. Sorry for the bad news. http://www.speedguide.net/ubb/eek.gif

I had one helluva time hosting a good game of RS on my @Home (Cox) connection. I was running the server on an Athlon 700, 128MB, ATA-66 HD, 32MB TNT2 Ultra... with a Linksys router... added another 128MB of RAM to up it to 256MB, and now I can host 5-6 people with absolutely NO lag. The difference is AMAZING. I heard here of some people claiming that upping the RAM to 256MB would help, and I was skeptical, but I must admit it did make a difference.
