q2 pings..

In the morning I have pings of 20's and 30's but when I come home the lowest ping is like 100 with tons of lagg.. my isp says they go by download speed and not ping.. I used to be on gaming ladders but the lagg is too much now.. what do I do?

Your isp is telling you what quake 2 uses??? Yea u need pings, the reason the're slower is because when u come home there are more ppl on the network then opposed to the early hours of the morining. Keep complaining about it and sooner or later ur isp will do something. Ive been having the same problems. Ive noticed that if lower your rate in Quake 2 to like 5000 there is less packetloss. It plays great in the mornings, like 30-40ping...sucks at night.

What can they do?? Mine is the same way, from about 8-11:30 i can get a better ping with a modem. I do a speed test and this seems ok. But gud lord, i use to have isdn and it was always stable. Going to go with dsl i think ne how.

I'm in the Portland, OR area and have no slowdowns at any time of the day. I ping 20-50 consistently to West Coast servers.

Oh, and those are XCTF servers, just FYI.

Yeah i get like alot of 40-50 pings to my fav servers at 2pm, and every single night, at like 8-12pm ill ping 3x or 4x normal to the same servers, and only at night, never during the day, and 7 days a week (??)
