1 way hosting problem

when playing NHL2001 online, I can connect to a friend and the game is perfect...when a friend connects to me, the game is choppy and almost unplayable...I have a celeron 566 overclocked to 850mhz, 30gig HD, 128mb ram...i'm on a roadrunner cable modem...my friends are also on roadrunner cable and don't have this problem...any help will be greatly appreciated.....thanks

Latest NIC drivers? Network properties leaned out, as in no NetBEUI or IPX, only TCP running?

Antivirus turned off? Firewall turned off? Through a router? Operating system running leaned out, check out www.tweak3d.net (http://www.tweak3d.net) for tweaking it for gaming. As in clean out all those useless things many programs put in your startup folder and taskbar that are running in the background.
