need help, plz need feedback...

well i live in so cali and have cable from so cali RR, my ping in UT is pretty good, from 70-110, but at night from about 9 pm to 11 pm i get horrible ping, about 300-400 which is about the same as a 56k. I was just wondering if this only happens to me or other so cali RR users. I am guessing it is because more people use their cable modems during those times and it just gets really busy. cuz i heard that when cable is busy, the connection gets a little bad.

Don't you remember the commercials for DSL (PacBell I think...) where the neighborhood goes nuts calling eachother web hogs?

That's why.

Cable is totally shared down to the neighborhood level. DSL at least is at the central office before sharing becomes an issue, and that's a nice place to keep it since that's where the big fat pipes are too. :-)

ping has lots to do with server aswell
understand if your server line is getting alot of hits at that time it will take away from your speed
and your connection so dont be alarmed it happens to me and im in socal but on dsl and the same thing happens to me
