I am new to this BBS and pretty sure someone has asked this already, but:

Is there anyway around the single public IP address problem with the Linksys Cable Router and multiple computers on the same LAN playing on Game Servers sensitive to duplicate IP addresses?

Has anyone figured out a solution, tip, or trick, to get the Router to show the IP addresses of each client computer on the LAN?

If there is no fix for this, does anyone have an opinion on where the trend in Game Servers is headed? Will I find more games like UT (multi logon with single IP) in the future, or are things moving towards Novalogic DF2 type servers (only one logon per IP)?

Your opinions are aprreciated. I am not sure if I should keep this new Linksys Cable Router or take it back to the store. It works awesome for security, home LAN connection, and multiple internet access. It just has the multi logon, single IP problem.

Thanks
Mike

I sure hope more games will support multiple computers per IP in the future, I can't see any point as to why they shouldn't. I don't think it's your router's problem, rather the server not supporting multiple IPs, and I'm not aware of any solution to your problem. Sorry.

I don't know if my memory is confusing this with something else, but I thought it might depend on the game. I thought I might have seen someone quoting someone else...perhaps it was Tim Higgins @ www.practicallynetworked.com, (http://www.practicallynetworked.com,) talking about how someone did something...oh well I can't be of much more help. Perhaps you could purchase another IP from your ISP? I wish it was easy for me. Verizon Americast tech says I would have to get another modem installed and pay another $47/month. Stupid. I hear people paying just $10 for another IP.
