Hi I need some help on geting my router set up. It's a linksys BEFSR41 I can join in unreal games and guys can join in on my games
But I went to the zone today to try out motocross madness2 I could make it in to the game but when it started up I got tossed out. so I tryed to host up a few games guys would come in for like 20sec then poof gone.
so I tryed just a ip game worked fine guys got right in.
I even took the firewall down when I was at the zone still no go.
In icq I can send/get files ok. But in napster when I try to get songs same thing no go.
so is there some ports I need to open?
I am new at this router/firewall thing so any
info back would help a lot

thanks Tileman

You need to click on the advanced tab, then do the port forwarding, for whatever ports your game uses. Believe me, I have found this out first hand with my games online. Good luck, consult your game books or email them to find out what port number or numbers it uses. If it is a range of ports, firmware versions from 1.34 up support that with Linksys.

Oh yeah - for Napster you need to forward port 6699, works like a charm for me.

When you go thru the Zone or Mplayer, you sometimes can't host, period. MS does give a list of ports needed to play on the Zone. Just go to the MS site and do a search in the support articles for "Zone" and "ports".
