Voodoo 5 Half-life tfc

I bought a voodoo 5 and not very impressed, but I don't think I'm using its full potential, if anyone knows how to get beter performance please let me know it would be much appreciated.
my system:
AMD Athalon 700
128MB pc 100
Voodoo 5 64MB

I get the same performance my has friend gets with histhe Voodoo 3 about 20-30 fps when looking at alot of action and max is 72fps, shouldn't it be faster than that?

Are you using the newest drivers? Are you using FSAA?

Also, the reason why you can't break 72 fps is because, by default, the game sets the max fps to 72.

I have the card set to fastest performance, I think no anti-aliasing, And I disabled the v sync but still cant break the 72 and still drops down to 20-30fps, can the 72 fps be broken?

You have to enter "max_fps xx" in the console. (I think it's max_fps) When does it dip in fps for you. Outdoors (big environment)? If so, it's the HL engine. It's not optimized (so I heard) for large environments.
