Quakeaholic new to CAble, with packet loss:(

Hello everyone,

My connection is awesome however I get the darn phone Icon 1-4 secs.( only when I game on line!) I have a Intel P3650e with 256 133 sdram and a TNT2 ultra, asus 3v4x MB

Are there config tweaks, patches etc I can do or use. Any help with this all to common question would be appreciated, I waited 3 years to get cable, hoping never to see the PHONE ICON again. LOL

It could be the servers he's playing on and not the cable. Also try not to play during peak hours, and try to find servers that take least amount of hops high hop/low ping servers usually are bad for spikes/packetloss.

I had the same problem, mine was different nothing was wrong inside the house but, the cable was ****. I had the erayon and it didnt work i would get the icon ever 20sec-1minute for about 15 seconds. THey finnaly tried changing the modem.

I suggest you get a tech to your house to check all the inside lines. Then check your pole and if all else fails try a new modem (different brand preferebly).
