New NIC cured packet loss (and choppiness)

I was using an ACER ALN-320 and getting heavy packet loss while gaming. My ISP pinged me and saw nothing but then they pinged my NIC and saw consistent packet loss. New NIC (Linksys EtherFast 10/100 - 24$)cured it and I've gone from an unplayable link to a near perfect one.

Hey, I have a similar problem and was just wondering if your heavy packet loss appeared during peak hours, or was it there all the time?

My 2 cents to add is if anyone is running on a USB adaptor I'd recommend moving to a good quality PCI nic. I did and saw a very nice overall improvment in less PL and higher speeds. Definitely a bum nic can be a bad deal.
