C'mon, how 'bout some possitive feedback? Who here likes their cable modem? Who here likes @Home when it comes to gaming?

Well, I have to admit that it is better and faster than my old 56k, and if i had to use one of those again, i'd go insane...but for gaming?! No way, lags up pretty bad

Woah.. I like @home... installation fast.. no hassle.. bettter than the dsl I've had before..
and the ping times are about 60 ms lower...
I can even get a 23 ping in a game where I'm not even the server...

I dont know why but I luv it...

Well, I've never had any complaints with @Home, especially with 500+K/sec downloads! The 16K upstream cap sucks, of course, for people like me who host game servers. I'm going with DSL soon, because I may be moving to an area that doesn't have @Home, so I had to get the promo now (2 months free and Cisco 675 router for $99).

I just had @home installed yesteday and all I can say is WOW! I currently have dsl with ameritech and in the last 6 weeks I've had about 5 days when it was working properly. I'm now getting fantastic pings and fantastic download speeds with @home. I hope these numbers continue.

Again guys it all depends on where you are in the network/cable segment that usually determines how amazing or how crappy your connection is. It's hit and miss it's not directly @home's fault, it could be the local cable co's crappy infrastructure or route onto the net. @home can be good and bad but so can DSL and other providers, I just think that since @home is such a big provider with such a large subscriber base that they recieve the most flak for a fairly 'embryonic' technology that has a lot of potential.

My @home service is great! During peak hours, my ping only goes up by about 10ms, and my download speeds are consistant at every time of the day. Cox@home is the real deal. I have had this service for about 2 years, and they have improved on their service. It's also great for playing games like Quake3 and Counterstrike.

Im on @home and I hate it. My ping times are ranging from 170-300. Downloads are at 10k or less. Terrible.

I've had Roger@Home for 2 years and other then the tech support (what tech support) I really don't have any complaints, my ping times aren't great for playing games from 6 to 11pm but i normally don't play during those hours anyways and even during those hours it isn't over bad. unless i try to play half life which is not a great play during those hours but delta force 2 works just fine.

I'm on Shaw@home and it was good when I first got it, but now I'm starting to hate it. I keep getting "Connection Failed" when I play UT. This problem just started. Tech support doesn't know how to fix it. I might switch to Bell Sympatico High speed edition.

Well I'm on Cogeco@home, I must admit its no big deal. Nothing great from it, but again, it is about 100 times as good as my old 33.6K modem. I can live with 150kb\sec to 50kb\sec downloads rather then my old 2.3kb\sec. My upload is capped at 12k, download 1.5meg. I can't really complain all that much. Just have to wait for Cogeco to replace the old servers and place in new backbone and up the cap on upload.

I have had @Home for 1 month, and all I can say is so far so good. It only took 7 days to get installed, and I was up and running.I had SDSL and it took 6 weeks for install, 14 phone calls to get up and running, and billing...UG!!I have heard of nightmares with @Home, but all I can say is I LOVE IT!

I like @home.

They installed it in like 3 hours. In games I get badass 50 pings and the connection is steady. The only lag I get is on the server side - it's hardly ever my connection. And actually here there's a 128k cap on the upstream, but I get like 800k on good days. There isn't even a downstream limit either.

My only problem now is that in games I can't blame getting owned on ping anymore...

I like @home, 500kb d/l nice...even seen a couple of 700k d/l. 16k u/l do suck. For game play I'm usually in 50-100 range day and night, unless they decide to work on the lines.

Well when i first got rogers@home (feb 99) it was pretty good 4 a while... then it was a bit worse...after i've had i for like 6 months i used to get 400kb/sec downloads & 50kb/sec uploads... pings were as low as 10 in the morning...
but i moved out of the area & i had to cancel my service...
i moved back into the area & i got a new ip adress & new modem... my pings were 25 in the morning & under 40 @ nite...
after that i had to cancel it again cuz i was out of money...
i got it again & now i ping 30 in he morning and @ 6 pm my pings go up slowly... @ about 9:30 i ping around 300 (the lowest)
ping stays like that till about 12 when it starts to go down
@ 2 am my ping is 30 again
i hate @home...
