I have Cable 1.5/256, Linksys Etherfast DSL/Cable Router (BEFSR11) with an 8 port 10/100 switch. When I get 2 players in Unreal Tournament the pings are fine. But as soon as I add a third...the pings go from 90 or less to 2000. All the computers are set up fine when it comes to MTU and MSS TTL and RCVWindow settings in the registry. I had it working just great with my old ISDN 128K now I have 10 times the connection and can't get 3 people in a game. I used to get 5 players in on it before. ANY help would be appreciated...

This topic has surfaced before, and seems to happen a lot with some cable users for some reason. I had a Linksys last fall, then a NetGear, now a Netopia. Reason I kept upgrading routers was to find one that could run a server behind it well. But playing as a client, even with the Linksys, never had a problem with multiple players going out through it, be it on different servers, or the same one. Talking about UT/Rune/Q3. 40 pings single player, goes up to 60 or so with 2 players, 100 - 120 with 3 players. I have aDSL. Yet same exact setup over my friends house, who has cable with 3 times the bandwidth as my aDSL, and he can't even have 2 players go out without skyrocketing pings.

i dont know that much about ut but in quake 3
there is a setting in the config for setting max rate...when u upgraded to cable u prolly changed your connection speed within the game. and when u did that u changed the default maxrate to a much higher one...u might want to look around for a way to lower that max rate so that all of you bandwidth is not wasted on 1 or 2 people. might not be right but should be a good place to start.
