Newbie Questions About Counter Strike!

Hey prey, its a great game! you'll love it!


When you die, you gotta wait for everyone to die. Then the game starts over, and you can play again.

Just some tips...

It suppose to be kinda a "Real" game. So when you shoot from far away, dont go full auto, do burst fire shots. When they are close you can do full auto.

When your shooting someone. Try crouching and shooting, it makes your aim alot better.

If you wanna check your FPS, when playing hit the ~ key, then type net_graph 5

If you wanna know how much time is left untill a new map, do the same but type timeleft.

If you dont know how to change your name, hit ~ then type: name then the name you want

Hmm thats all I can think of now...

Oh yea, right clicking your mouse button does stuff too. Like if your CT and holding a pistol, if you right click, your guy screws a silencer on.

Well those are the questions I asked when I was a nube :D Hope I helped ya out a little.

Enemy dont show on radar, so you have to recognize them by there uniform. It takes a while to get use to.

LOL thanks CoolJ, you don't know how many times I got capped for thinkin someone was a friend hehehe. Sometimes Enemy wouldn't popup up to quickly on the screen and I'd get OWNED. Still trying to get used to it, but having 4 speaker surround and an SB Live card helps, I can tell where the sounds are coming from so that I know which way to run :D. Ohh, how come I can never find any health packs? Are there health packs on CS? And what is that option in the config menu to buy stuff? Damn, any links for a CS newbie? :)

It's not that I don't know how to buy stuff, but where is it that you buy stuff? I don't have time to look for stores while i'm running for my life :D LOL seriously, how do you get the dough to buy stuff?

Your Team wins= Your whole teams gets some $$

The more people you kill = more $$ you get

If your CT, its the same but also, the more hostages you rescue, more $$ you get :D

Hey Peeps, newbie CS player here :)


1. On the top left hand corner, is that a radar screen? And if so, what color is the enemy?


2. When you die, which happens to me a lot BTW, do you have to wait till the end of the current game/time in order to rejoin, or can I rejoin right in the middle of combat?

Radar shows your team. When there under fire they flash. And no you cant join mid game. I think its a 1 minute barrier or something close to that

Hey PREY,

On one of the screens in CS. There is a 'How to play" or something like this. Take a look and print it off. I had to read it several times. It has good info on things, Weapons, different games, key commands etc...

What's with the Buy Menu... Oh man LOL That sounds so much like me when I was a NooB.

I remember one really fast game where the terrorists killed all the cts really quickly except me because they couldn't find me. As sometimes happens they found me in respawn still standing still. But I wasn't away from the keyboard, I was still pondering how to buy ammo for my pistol! Needless to say, it was another easy kill for them.

Yeah, and I still occasionally blind all my comrades with a bad flashbang throw, too...

Well, hang in there Prey. You'll be fraggin me with headshots while doing a crossword puzzle in notime. :-)
