Hey Guys,

I was interested in knowing which one is better, more secure, stable or whatever. I just wanted you guys opinions. I have both and am unsure on which one to install. Do they both do the same thing or are they two totally different programs. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I've run both Zone Alarm and Black Ice Defender Gold. I no longer use Black Ice Defender Gold, and even though I have a Linksys Cable/DSL Router, I still use Zone Alarm. Zone Alarm covers a lot more ports that Black Ice leaves open. Black Ice has some nice logging features, but it is VERY sensitive... I was getting warnings/messages about every 2 minutes.

ZA, easier to use.
BI, more customizeable.

ZA, for users who want to plug and go.
BI, for users who need more power tools.

They work in different ways, but I've yet to hear against a successful exploit of either when it's properly configured.

Zone Alarm and Jammer on the client computers
Avirt NAT with Jammer on the server and blackice Altho it took allot of writing back and forth to networkice before we finally got it to stop crashing. You want to look at jammer not because its a good firewall but it can stop anthing from the outside writing to your registry or OS... If jammer interest you, it can be looked up at http://microsyspro.com I couldent remember the exact link to it but they have a link there and free trialware

If you aren't going to have a hardware firewall, use them all and see which ones help you the most.

I suggest having two "soft" firewalls up.
I used to run Atguard and ZoneAlarm. they stopped pretty much everything.
It's all up to you though.
Some have features that others don't.
When it all boils down........Keep the ones you like. That's why most have a trial period before buying.
