If you are getting ICMP'ed by someone using a "smurf" does network ice block this incoming attack? Attacks are huge since they are AMP (which means you can get attacked by over 20,000 ICMP's.

It could also be used to messure packetloss, BlackIce doesn't block this.

Yeesh.

(Pulls Conseal blankie up under his chin)

(Yeah, Conseal by default blocks incoming OR outgoing ICMP. Since I'm not on a ping fest, I'd rather be Mr. Anonymous.)

Now if only they made a Windows2000 version. Oh well, ZoneAlarm for me! A lot cheaper, too! =)

Blackice, although it does provide some security (and seems to tickle the senses of those novice computer users who enjoy its alerts, online "advice" and such) is no match for NIS or conseal (now McAffee). NIS 2.0 is now fully compatable with windows 2000 as well. The biggest problem I have with Blackice is that its firewall driver is unstable (at least with windows 2000) and will sometimes crash leaving you wide open with no warning. Only the firewall driver will crash. The Program will Appear to be working fine, but will block nothing. Even though its probably the worst protection "firewall" as compared to its competition: NIS, Mcafee and Zonealarm, I just love its cute little menus and "hacker" alerts http://www.speedguide.net/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.speedguide.net/ubb/smile.gif http://www.speedguide.net/ubb/biggrin.gif
