Hey...I have ZA currently. I love ZA and I wanna know what Tiny is like. Can I have both or just choose one? If I had to choose one which one should I take? Same thing with NAV...I have NAV 2001 right now...should I get Inoculate IT or keep my Norton? I obviously can't have both anti-viruses so which one should i have? Thanks!

If your Curious and you wana test er out Go ahead. you should only run one firwall. i think it should be tiny. I love my inoculate it pe it's free and it's icsa certified. However having two virus programs will screw you up so tou will have to dump one.

jnx.. Sorry to let you down but you are so wrong about running one only a firewall and AV program.

ZoneAlarm and Sygate can run together as your firewall protection. That has been tested and proved on my system. You should ask yourself if it is worth it though.

I am currently running two AV's with no conflict. Others will tell you that they run more than one AV, including the big named AV's so I would suggest you do some research before you make comment.

Tekelberry... InnoculateIT will run successfully with AVG. The secret to the combination is the download sequence.
1. Download AVG
2. Disable Resident Shield
3. Shut down AVG in systray.
4. Download InnoculateIT PE
5. Obtain current update.
6. Restart your system.
Both AV's icons will be in your systray and Innoculate will start a random file scan of 100 files.
It does work if you want to try it. Do you have a need for two?

hehhehheh first of all it Can cause conflicts to run 2 av programs. and theres no use in waisting memory to run 2 av scanners. Yes you can run 2 firewalls but with tiny it's pointless. you don't need 2 firewalls if you have tiny. and tiny doesn't eat as much memory as za or as far as i know any other firewall.

All the good AVs have the same info, runnung 2 is only redundant & wastes resources.

One good AV[ [ e.g. InnoculateIT ] is all you need.

Some AV progrrams Will conflict.

Same is true with firewalls. You don't need 2 doing the same thing.

Pick one of each from the info on this site and configure it carefully.

If you are not happy with one, then replace it with another.

I am aware that file conflicts can and do occur when running two of the same type of programs, however The statement was that you can't, or shouldn't run more than one of each.
This is not true in the case of ZoneAlarm with Sygate firewalls and AVG with InnoculateIT PE antivirus. They will run together without conflict and that was what I posted.
I have used AVG and prefer it for quite a long time now and the only problem with it is updates being infrequent. InnoculateIT PE is also a great free AV and it is updated more frequently.
Whether it is of benefit or pointless was not part of my post. It is up to the individual what he/she uses and is comfortable with.

Croc I undertstand what your saying. yes you can run some firewalls together but it's pretty pointless if you have one like za or tiny. you can run some av programs together but that's just plain stupid.

P.S (Keeping antivirus program signature files up-to-date is critical for protection from the latest computer viruses. InoculateIT Personal Edition provides daily and free of charge, the latest signature file updates on its' Web site. You can download the latest signature files from this site right now! and i remind you this is free sounds like a perty good deal to me)

Running two firewalls is not a bad idea, especially if one is rule based and the other application based. This builds on having a strong protection against any application phoning out whether it be spyware or a trojan. As to antivirus software, you should only run one to monitor background activity. Installing multiple user initiated applications is fine as this should cause no residual effects....and you get the benefit of multiple dat signature comparisons, as well as a combination of heuristic capabilities.

Hope this helps.....
