I've succesfully setup PcAnywhere through broad bandwidth routers like the NetGear and the Linksys before, but have a question about security. I usually setup my networks with F&P Sharing bound to NetBEUI, and TCP/IP loaded just for internet. For PcAnywhere host mode, I open up ports 5631, 5632, and 22, forwarding them to the PcA host computer which has static IPs, as do all my setup.
Vulnerabilities? I've heard ports below 1024 are quite vulnerable, 22 is one of the other FTP ports, no? Is it just for PcAnywhere to use if you transfer files?

I've found the port lists before, was curious on vulnerable the PcAnywhere ports were, especially port 22.

Why open port 22? Perform your login validation through pcAnywhere- choose the security option to use "Windows authentication". Your session will commence via PCA only, but cannot continue until a succesful network login has been accepted.
You don't need port 22 open.

I used 22 because that's what I found on Symantecs site, as well as the software port use list at practicallynetworked.com. Those were the only ports use lists that I could find. As far as Windows log in, in most cases there are just Win9X. I realize NT would be more secure for this since you can leave the host as a service, and have to ctrl+alt+del to log on, but these peeps aren't using it.
