I have a question. I have IE 5.01. I use the security section and put in certain web url's but I don't see where it does a thing except put a little icon to my computer.. I received a security letter from ZA which reads;

"Featured Tip
Topic: Blocking unwanted websites
Level: Novice
Product: ZoneAlarm™ Pro

Did you know you can use your Restricted Zone to block unwanted Web sites, computers, or entire networks from ever contacting your computer again?

Simply go to the Security panel, click on "Advanced Settings," then click the "Restricted Zone." Add or remove risky or bothersome intruders whenever you want, either by URL or IP address."

So here is my question. Exactly what is that security option suppose to be doing?

it is automatically supposed to block anything you list there. If someone at a certain IP adress has been try to hack you and you keep getting alerts for zone alarm, then you put the IP adress in the restricted zone in Zone Alarm and it will automatically deny access from that IP.

Matt,
thanks for the info. Now for another question. In the browser where security has a place to put in a url what is its purpose?

that will use the highest securty settings when using that URL so nothing harmful could be run. You could put a url in there that you know is dangerous so nothing is run from it by accident.
