View Full Version : Dos command to disable NetBios ports?
Can I shut off my net bios ports (or any ports) from dos?
question 2- what port numbers does net bios use.
I want to do this from dos. I dont want to use ZA or anything. Just wanna keep someone from using MMC to harrass me at work. Any clues?
Ports 137-139; netbios. What OS? You're obviously networked- could really raise havoc with WINS.
You've posted about this before, haven't you? Aren't you on an NT box? What does your Admin say? You're playing with fire here.
Thanks for the links Ken.
TWWABW, A friend and I are (well were, I got a new job) assistant NT4 admins. Our client boxes are win2k.
He keeps taunting me with messages, opening and closing my CD ROM drive, remotely re-booting my comp etc. So I wanted close the ports on him. Zone Alarm worked well for this but I was just curious as to the port numbers and commands used to manipulate them.
Thanks again for the links!
Im not sure turning ports 137-139 will help. Win2k doesn't use netbios for netsend commands does it? Im not sure please enlighten!?
