winipcfg question

would i be right in thinking that if i release my ip through winipcfg.exe and exit without renewing the connection that i would be completely removed from the network and able to run my pc without virus scan or firewall without risk of intrusion?

i only ask because both my virus scan and firewall do horrible things to cubase and i don't want to manually disconnect my modem every time i use it.

oh, i'm running win98se with motorola sb3100i cable modem through ntl in the uk.

yeah, that's kinda what i want, to disable my internet connection without manually unplugging my modem
