In adaware 4.5 a reference to spyware came up. This is what it said
C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\PLUGINS\nponflow.dll
What is this file???? Should I delete it????

This is the only thing that came up when I ran Ad-Aware 4.5. There were no registry entries. This is what the screen looked like.

Here is a good (free) program for removing spyware. It is one of Steve Gibsons programs. It is called OptOut.
http://grc.com/default.htm
Steve Gibson has decided to not update OptOut and recommends ADAware instead of his own program.
Don't know why he just doesn't remove the active link to it.

Correct -- OptOut is outdated. Steve himself recommends using AdAware instead.
The CometCursor entry is in the Registry -- so it will not be in the Add/Remove programs area. Personally, I would let AdAware remove the registry entry for you. I don't think IN THIS CASE it will be a problem.

I have had Ad-Aware remove CometCursor many times, but every time I run ad-aware it seems to be there again. How do I remove it permanantly.

Yea,
You clean it out with Adaware, then go here (http://download.cometsystems.com/no_nag/nonag.asp) and then click on "No More CC Download Offers" :D
PS:
A good read, NOT (http://www.zdnet.com/anchordesk/stories/story/0,10738,2677247,00.html)
And the article says the spyware hype for Comet Cursor is urban legend? Each individual who downloads the software is given a unique identifier. Why? Well, to track them of course! I think the author needs to do a little more research before releasing an article of this type.

youbecha, OptOut was a good program but is no longer being updated as far as I know but Ken can answer that one better, stay with adaware it's the best.
