I just got this from http://advice.networkice.com/advice/Intrusions/2002201/?protocol=POP3&line=Subject:_Important_Message_From_FreeDrive:_Private_Sharing
However the IP was from..
IP: 24.0.95.140
DNS: femail13.sdc1.sfba.home.com
So look out. This had the Melissa virus in it.
Funny thing though. I had just disabled my virus scanner, as to figure out another problem. Black Ice caught it. I also had ZoneAlarm loaded since my BI updates go dead in a couple of weeks. ZoneAlarm didn't catch anything.

http://www.speedguide.net/ubb/smile.gif You have to remember that ZoneAlarm is not a Virus Scanner. It is there to block access to your PC and to let you know what is wanting to access the net from your PC. Read this (http://davidovv2.homestead.com/firewalls.html) and this (http://www.robertgraham.com/pubs/firewall-seen.htmls) for firewall functions. Both are informative.

Thanks for the reply, TheCroc.
Yep your right indeed. That's what ZoneAlarm is. And so is BlackIce............
My point is...that for all the bad mouthing BI gets here, it caught the problem and ZoneAlam didn't.

Just a thought here...
I would think that because BI caught it, ZA wouldn't, since it was already caught. Think of it as a pipe line. If BI is ahead of ZA in the pipe line, and it intercepts something, such as a e-mail virus, then ZA won't even see it, since it never arrived!

Thanks Downhill! Good post. I will keep a look out!
I have to agree with grimoire.
I don't see both firewalls catching it as it shouldn't make it past the first one that encounters it.
The faults of Black Ice are well known and documented. It doesn't keep anything in your puter and should actually be called an intrusion detection device as it has been known to advise a detection and let it go through anyway...Contrary to a firewall that would advise and stop it with out a doubt...
ZA Pro can be configured to stop specified file attachments. I am not sure if you were using the free or pro version.

Nah just plain ole ZoneAlarm, JANDOENT.
I'm not one for warez. I feel that programers should get their due as well. I'd hate to work for free. Now if someone wants to give away their work, well I'm not one to argue! http://www.speedguide.net/ubb/biggrin.gif
