I've been using Zonealarm (freeware) for some time now and seems to be working well.
But, I've been reading a lot of good press on the free firewall from Tinysoftware.
http://www.tinysoftware.com
It seems like it's a lot more configureable and just as secure.
Anyone have any comments?
Anyone dumped zonealarm for this?
Thanks!

You may want to read this DSLR thread (http://www.dslreports.com/forum/remark,408085;root=security,1;mode=flat) before throwing out the best firewall available at the moment.

I saw that, but I have already installed/deinstalled it successfully. I don't know what Steve G had a problem with that part of the firewall. Seen many many posts showing no problems with BSOD/uninstall.

Hey Lex, The only problem that I can say about Tiny is that it is a little hard for a newbie to configure. ZA is fine at defaults, Tiny is not.
I am sure that someone with your puter experience will not have any problems with Tiny and that you will find it to be a great program.
I'm lazy and it would be too difficult to explain rulesets to many people.. http://www.speedguide.net/ubb/wink.gif heheh
ZA is what I usually recommend because you don't know how puter friendly the person is.
Glad to see you come into the security forum...

I'm running Win ME on my system and had trouble with Zonealarm. I've been using Tinysofts firewall for about 2 months and find it to be better than Zonealarm. The new release is very easy to configure. Tinys' firewall also uses less resources than zonealarm.

well before you install anything you might want to read the FAQ a company has made....
