someone help me with my linksys firewall?

i have a cable/dsl router (linksys). it comes with a bult in firewall. i have a dsl modem. does anyone know how to turn off this firewall. please respond. the firewall doesnt allow me to upload things on IRC or let anyone get onto my computer. please help. Here is my understanding of your situation:

You don't have a firewall, you have a NAT router which hides your computer's LAN IP address.

You don't really want to disable your NAT, what you want to do is foreward the correct ports to your computer for use by IRC. What these port numbers are, I don't know. Find out what ports you need to forward and enable this in your BIOS.

Yes your correct. Just forward ports to the correct PC. I have to open 6699 so I can use Napster. But if you really want to disable your firewall just put the IP address in the DMZ section. But that kind of defeats the purpose of having a $200 router.
